A great first day and a great group of kids!
We loved seeing our alumni pals and were thrilled to meet new friends! We are very excited for the next couple of weeks!
We had fun learning all of our new pals’ names today – and learning new songs and being silly!
The kids found a note from our good pal, Dossledorf, this morning. This is what it read:
Dear Friends,
Oh joy!
Oh love!
Look at these shining faces! The fairies and I have been so excited for your arrival – we have been singing all morning and dancing with glee!
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Dossledorf. I am what you call a Communications Fairy. I am the liaison between fairies and believing humans. Do you believe in Fairies?
My tribe of fairies lives in a fairy village called Hanalonkawich. The tribe of fairies called Shlitersnence has been working on a surprise for you.
Would you like to go and see?
Follow your friends and I will see you there!
With love,
Dossledorf
Of course we left right away!!
You wouldn’t believe what we found there!
Our fairy friends left us these beautiful wooden boxes AND a note:
Dear Children,
Thank you so much for coming to Hanalonkawich. We truly hope you like the gift we have given you. These are your very own fairy mailboxes. If you have any questions about fairies, please let us know and we will answer your questions in these boxes. Please be sure you decorate them with your own sense of magic and flair!
But wait… there is one more thing. We the fairies also have a question for you. You see, this whole summer we have been watching some of you at camp – playing and dancing and singing. We feel shy asking, but we were wondering if you wouldn’t mind creating a musical performance for us. You are SO talented and there are so little plays and songs about fairies and the ones that DO exist (like Tinkerbelle) are not really realistic (although very enjoyable).
Do you think you could create a musical performance for the fairies for THIS Friday? We would feel so privileged and so excited if you could!
Oh please say yes!
Oh please say yes!
With love,
Dossledorf and the fairies
I am very happy to let you know that the kids DID say yes! We are super excited about creating a musical performance for the fairies. We talked about the musicals that we know, have seen, acted in, or heard of. As per a brainstorm the kids had, they are all going to think of their favorite character from a book, movie, play or their imagination, and let us know in the morning who they would like to depict. The beginnings of a play!
Our campers also painted their mailboxes – they look wonderful!
We can’t wait to see what magic tomorrow brings!
Thank you for being a part of our adventure!
