Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Hi All!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving with your wee little fairies!

Our last day of camp was so fun and sweet. To start off, we had a giant freeze dance party and competition.

We decided to continue with the giving spirit and we created “gratiframes” for our families. You can use dry erase markers to create thoughtful messages to your family!

We also designed Thankful Cards for people we love or to use at a later date. My heart burst with the hard work and sweetness they put into the cards!

Near the end of the day, we received this beautiful note from Dossledorf:

Dear Campers,
I write this note as humbly as possible. I cannot wait to tell you occurred this morning! As I approached the festivity fairgrounds, I saw Grandpa Gretten sitting there, head bowed. My heart sank. Oh goodness… is he still feeling so grumpy after all the wonderful things you did for your community and family? How could that possibly be?
When I approached, I noticed he had a tiny piece of paper in his hands. I sat beside him and Grandpa Gretten, I joke you not, looked at me with a smile. There were happy tears in his eyes. He said what you did yesterday was beautiful… but then he passed me the tiny note.

Dear Grandpa Gretten,
I am sorry that you feel sad. When I feel sad, I try to think of the little stuff that makes me feel thankful. I focus on the things that surround me and you every day. Things that don’t cost money or take long to find. Things like,

A flower that turns to face the sun
Being wrapped in a warm towel
Fresh berries from the bush

Holding hands with a friend.
Counting a ladybug’s spots
A quiet lullaby from a nearby bird

My heartbeat that continues thumping without even having to be asked.
Thump thump thump.

I’m so thankful for you too, Grandpa Gretten. It’s okay that you are grumpy. You are still so loved.

Love, the littlest fairy of all,
Pip.

After I read the note, I reached up for Grandpa Gretten’s hand.
Pip was right. There is so much to be thankful for, and we don’t need to go looking for it. It’s all right here… and beside me too.

Happy Thanksgiving Campers. You are so loved,
Love, Dossledorf and all the fairies.

We thought of all the little things we were thankful for… most of all, for the new friends we made over the past few days.

Big thanks to our host Becki who helped the fairies leave a special gift for the campers and for being so welcoming.

Hope to see you soon. Sending love, light and magic during this festive season!
