Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Hooray!!! We are all SO excited to be back at camp after a such a long break. We had a boatload of fun today and are VERY grateful for Scarlett and Grey for hosting in their backyard!

Upon arrival, the kids found all sorts of magical jewels in the grass! They were fun to collect and learn all about their powers and the fairies that leave them.

We joined in a fairy circle to introduce ourselves and sing with Melissa and her guitar. We learned the only rule of Fairy Camp (RESPECT!), and found out the 5 ways to tell if magic is close. These kids are so magical that they found a note from the Communications Fairy, Dossledorf right away! Check out what he wrote the kids:

Hello Friends, it is so wonderful to see all of your faces – how I have missed my old friends and so thrilled to meet new ones! It has been a rather unique time, and I am so happy we could all gather here and be together.
For those of you who don’t know me, I am Dossledorf – Lead Communication Fairy for the village of Hannalonkawich. I have known Melissa, Sue and the gang for many years. They are tried, tested and loyal friends and I have SO enjoyed meeting their campers and showing them the magic of the Enchanted World!
Friends, I had such plans for this week – but I have become so distracted with an unsettling problem here in the village.
You see, a young fairy named Thomas Rosebud has come to me in great peril. He has told me that he does not know what Magic is! Thomas does not know how to be magical or even if he IS magical. Sigh.
I am writing to ask for your help.
I had a meeting this morning with all of the enchanted creatures from near and far and they have agreed to come to this yard each day this week to help show Thomas their special magical talents. Perhaps then, he can SEE for himself the beauty of magic and what it means.
I will be bringing Thomas and we will sit yonder in those trees to watch. I do hope you can help by having a magical week and learning all about the enchanted creatures that will come to visit and leave you notes.
Have fun, dear ones.
Love,
Dossledorf
PS – Before anyone comes to visit, will you please create a communifairilee so that you and I can write letters to each other? Please make sure you decorate it with your own sense of awesome!

Our campers did a great job using markers, glitter, paint and stickers to make their boxes uniquely them! The kids asked questions for Dossledorf – we really hope he answers them tonight!

The day was full of surprises… after lunch Scarlett found a note from a LEPRECHAUN named Daggleroot. Daggleroot says that he believes that magic is about SURPRISE and he left us a letter “L” that we hung up – we wonder what it is for?

To Small Humans,

Hee Hee Hee, Ho ho ho
It’s my magic I’ve come to show

We leprechauns truly believe
That magic lies in the surprise of what you may not see

So look around to see if anything is amiss
We will leave you some surprises of magical bliss!

First have peek at the bottom of the trees
To see if you can find the coins we will leave

Next look in the grass – surely you will find something new
Look for color of bright light – we’ve left some jewels for you!

Surprises some in many ways so look forward with an open heart
More treasures await you in this world for those brave enough to start.

Not only did we get coins and jewels from the leprechauns but we also received a cupcake surprise! Wowzers! We of course had our eyes out for Thomas the fairy – we hoped he saw the magic we were creating!

The afternoon started to get hot so we thought the best way to cool down would be water balloons! We had so much fun – especially when the kids got the counselors ALL wet!

We can’t wait until tomorrow to find out what other enchanted friends will be coming to show us their magic!

Thanks for joining us!
