Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Today was one of the coolest experiments ever!!  The kids (and counselors) had so much fun!

Dossledorf’s note made us laugh, and we talked about how mistakes can sometimes be really funny!!

Dear Campers,

We have been having so much fun!  Last night Jiley was trying to a dancing experiment where every time we jumped a rainbow would explode!  It didn’t work at all (my hypothesis was absolutely correct, by the way) – but man, we ended up dancing all night in colorful puddles and laughing the whole time.  Sometimes mistakes are really just an excuse to have a blast!

We are all so tired from the dancing last night, that our friends have made you two surprises to experiment with.  Have fun!

Love, Dossledorf

Back at deRooville, the kids were so excited to find this note from the Princess:

Dear Campers,

The fairies and I wanted to thank you for being such great scientists!  Your brains and hearts are exploding and it is making us all so excited and thrilled!  We have a very simple but VERY fun experiment done by Cedarpine, Ruby Rubblestien and Clarissa May today…

I’m sure you are going to OOooohhh and Bleck about it!

Love, Princess Thesablee

Oobleck is one of the only substances that is both a liquid AND a solid.  If not touched, the oobleck is watery… but as soon as you hit it or mold it, it turns hard.  We added glitter and food dye and sequence to make it look fairy-ish… we also experimented to see if rocks would sink or float.  It really was magical… and messy!
