Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

The genuine squeals of “ohhh” and “ahhhh” from my campers makes me feel like soaring!  And not only did we hear squeals… but full screams of delight!  Today rocked!

The kids had fun singing like penguins, playing in the playground, and finding Dossledorf’s note this morning at Possibility Park.

Hello Campers!  We are so excited to get to our trial runs for the science contest!

This year we have three tough competitors for the RAINBOW experiments competition.

I hope you are all ready for super colorful day!!

I tried one of these experiments last night and I ended up with hair that looked like a unicorn’s mane!  So be careful!!

With Love, Dossledorf the rainbow headed fairy

When we returned to DeRooville, we found our questions answered by Dossledorf (hooray!) and this note from Princess Thesablee:

Dear Friends,

As Dossledorf mentioned, we have three very important competitions coming up.

Catilla and Cindy Rock have been preparing for weeks on their travelling rainbow – see how long it takes your rainbow to fly!  Look out for the mixing of colors!

Lilliac Meadow and Tessa Tutu are creating exploding rainbows!  This is always a crowd favorite.

And finally, Featherfly and Geeniper are trying to make a stacking rainbow.  This has never before been tried at deRooville, so let’s cross our fingers for these innovative competitors!

Let’s start the show!

Love, Princess Thesablee

The kids went bonkers to find out that some of their ACTUAL fairies will be competing in the science contest.

First we created Traveling Rainbows just like Catilla and Cindy Rock.  We made hypothesis, and tried to figure out how it would work.  We loved watching the colors travel up the rainbows throughout the day.

Next up was exploding rainbow – we have done these before at camp and LOVE them.  The kids were screaming and shouting so much – it was SO fun.  They went into groups to do some of their own testing with color, and the magic liquid and powder.  As the finale, we made fairy magic mountain erupt!!

After lunch we tried to do our own stacking rainbow.  Guys, it was really amazing.  We added a new liquid and dye to each layer to create the coolest Rainbow in a Jar!

What colorful fun!
