Yahoo! Such fun! Who knew (fairy) school could be such fun!?
After park play, songs, magic and silliness, the kids found this note by a tree:
Dear Campers,
Thank you so much for your questions, dear ones! I have answered them all diligently and you will find your boxes back at deRooville.
The younger fairies of our village really wanted to teach you about their school. You see, even though human children are out on summer break, fairy children go to school year round. But don’t feel too sorry for them… 100% of fairy children think school is amazing. Yes, they learn math, reading, writing, and science, etc like you but they also have classes in flying, lullabies, silly faces and camouflage.
The fairy kids BEGGED us to have you join them this week, and we had to oblige. I hope you don’t mind.
The first class is math… and before we begin, you must collect 4 sticks from the park to bring back with you.
Princess Thesablee will fill you in on the rest.
Love, Dossledorf
When we returned to deRooville, we were so excited to find our communifairilees surrounded by a whole bunch of fairy dust! Dossledorf did indeed write us all back – what guy! I mean, what a fairy!
Later, the kids found out how the fairies do math in two different ways. The first, was taught to us by the following note:
Dear Campers,
Oh the children of deRooville are ever so excited to tell you all about their school life. As Dossledorf mentioned, we all love it!
The fairy kids were excited to show you how they learn math. This is what humans call an abacus. Fairy’s call it a number wand. I will let your counselors show how it works – and then you can make one too!
We have lots of fun math games to show you… so get your counting brain ready to go!
Love, Princess Thesablee
We loved making number wands, or as Charlie K would say, “Old Timey Computers”. The kids thought they were awesome!
Later, we found out about a lesson the fairies do with beach charcoal and beach rocks. Check out these pics! So cool!
Thanks again for another great day of exploring and adventure!
