Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Hello friends!  How wonderful life is when you get to dream about the moon and stars under the sun with smiley campers!

We had fun singing about moose and geese and trees today – and Naty set up an awesome obstacle course to challenge the kids too!

Catherine found a note from Dossledorf that read,

Dear Campers,

Hark! Joy! You won’t believe what has happened! Your lights were so beautiful and so powerful that when I was using mine late into the evening last night, it caught the attention of a night fairy!
Oh friends, she was so glorious – she was curious to what I was doing, and I softly explained (since you should always whisper to a Night Fairy) that I was writing to my friends at camp.
The night fairy, Lalune, was very intrigued. She asked me to tell her more. I told her all about you, and she was so excited!
She asked if you were talented – I said yes
She asked if you were smart – I said yes
She asked if you could sing – of course I said yes!
She asked if you were magical – and I responded a solemn yes.

She then asked if you could do her a favor. She had hoped that you could please write her a new lullaby. You see, a Black Night Fairy’s job is to sing the creatures of the forest asleep, but she is in need of a new, beautiful, lullaby. Would you be able to help her?

(oh please say yes, I really want her to come back!).

Many thanks, Dossledorf

We had fun singing the lullabies that we hear before we go to bed.  All the kids knew “You are my sunshine” so we decided that would be a great tune to write our song to!  We split into two groups and each of us created a verse, practiced, and performed it for each other!

Night Fairy Lullaby
Written by the Campers
of Melissa and Sue Camp
(to the tune of You are My Sunshine)

You are my fairy
My little fairy
When things are scary
I’m here for you.

When you see a star
Know that I’m not far
Lets have good dreams together tonight

The moon comes out
It’s time to sleep
I have my pillows
and my bed

The night fairies come
And bring sweet dreams
And sing a song of love

It was so beautiful!  I just know that the Night Fairy, Lalune, will love it.  It was so pretty that we decided to print it out and decorate the frames with starry jewels.

Thanks for the fun!
