Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Today we received our mapping badge!

After a morning of song and fun,

we found a note from Dossledorf that read,

Dear Friends,

Your songs were beautiful.  The fairies have been singing them all night long. You definitely deserved your campfire badge! Beautiful!

Today we are going to send you on a hike to the Path of Many Decisions. There you will find a clue and a note for your next badge.

With love,

Dossledorf

But before we went the hike, there was just one thing we HAD to do… you see, sometimes opportunities come your way (like sprinklers on in the park on a hot, hot, hot day) and you just have to seize these opportunities (like run, jump, skip, and scream through the sprinklers).  It seemed the right thing to do.  Plus, IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!

We hiked to the Path of Many Decisions and stopped for some impromptu skits and silliness from the “big kids” and the counselors.

When we finally found the note from the fairies we already felt like we had been on such an epic adventure!  The fairies wrote:

Sweet humans,

Here is a Barkamoon map. A Barkamoon is a special kind of bark found in Griffith Park that falls off the tree by the light of the full moon.

We use these barks for many things, and today we want to show you our fairy maps. Please use this as a guide to show you how to adventure and create your own map.

You see, in the fairy world, a map is created before the area is even seen. We create a map by using our imagination to create our perfect adventure. Then we set forth to see what happens!

Have fun, and at the end of your map making we would love to present you with the adventure badge!

With love,

The fairies of Hannalonkawich

We loved the idea of making a map from our own imagination, so after lunch we set to work and did just that.  The kids loved it and did a great job!
