What a crazy cool day!!

First the eclipse and then oodles of fun with new friends and new fairy friends!

The solar eclipse was so cool and we felt so lucky to be able to watch it with these awesome campers.

The fairies thought so too because we found this note in the “fort”

Dearest Friends,

Holy Doodle! What a special day here at Griffith Park! All the fairies are so excited about the eclipse. We all have our very fancy eye protectors and we will be dancing the morning away!

You see, on the morn of a solar eclipse, all the fairies of Hannalonkawich come together to dance the “Suntarina Two Step” – a dance that celebrates the sun and all that it brings to the fairy world. They make wishes for all the sunny days ahead, and then throw their wishes in the wishing well after the eclipse. We hope you will do the same!

Oh but beg your pardon! Some of you don’t even know who I am! My name is Dossledorf, and I am the Communications fairy for the village of Hannalonkawich and the tribe of Shlittersnece. I look forward to getting to know you all this week – and am eager to watch you dance with the sun this morning!

Goodness! I nearly forgot! The fairies asked me to tell you that they have hid a treasure for you somewhere in fairy headquarters.

We had fun dancing the Suntarina Two Step

and when we finished we found this note:

Dear children,

We are deeply honored to meet you.

We have heard through the fairy vine that you have come this week to learn all about the environment and how you can help preserve this beautiful world! We the fairies thank you so much. As you may have guessed, we need nature to create our magic and so being kind to the trees, air and water are of utmost imporantance to us!

We have heard that you have brought boxes with you to camp. Would you please use these to turn them into Communifairilees? Communifarilees is a fancy fairy word that means “mailbox”. Each day you will ask a question, and in the morning the answers will be left in the Communifairalee!

Please decorate them with color, zest and fun.

We finished this exceptional day with a walk to the wishing well. We hope the fairies hear our wishes for all the sunny days ahead!
