Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Oh what a fun day!  Changing, morphing, imagining and silly fun!

The kids were so excited about any news we may have had on the Nattermorphs.  Luckily, Dossledorf wrote us back in our Communifairalees and also a larger note for the group that read,

Dear Friends,

I hope you had a wonderful first day of camp! Did any of you meet any new friends? We did!

Not only were we so excited to meet some new faces here at camp… but we have exciting news about some NEW friends of the forest!

You see, one of our green nature fairies, Skyleaf, was busy taking care of a sick turtle yesterday. Out of the blue, she saw the strangest thing… a small, tiny, teensie little creature flew right past her. And then, as quickly as he came, he disappeared – and in his place, stood a red dragonfly.

She tried to talk to the dragonfly but it was too busy to chat.

Skyleaf’s sister, Samantha Dreamleaf, told her that she has heard that there are some mysterious creatures in Griffith park that can change themselves to different kinds of species.

What? For real? That’s awesome!

We are so curious about it that we left a message near the turtle pond and told them that we would like to meet them.

Would you go to the pond and see if you can find any clues?

Many thanks,

Dossledorf

We were excited to see if a message was left, so we headed to the turtle pond and you wouldn’t believe what we found!!

There were so many red dragonflies and THIS crazy note!

Griffith Park’s magic blows in the trees

And you have met many friends amid the flowers and leaves

But we have stayed hidden, sheltered from your view

Making sure you were loyal friends, and would stay true

For our powers are mighty and not of regular kind,

But we believe you are ready to search and to find

A new kind of magic, here at the park

A magic that takes on new shapes once it becomes dark

As it is our job to help the environment be safe

We can take on nearly any natural shape

From insects to fish to trees and more

We can change ourselves from what we were before

We are not fairies, elves, trolls or dwarfs,

We are the enchanting NATTERMORPHS!

So come down to the river to see us play

Keep your eyes open and do not delay

See if you can see us, although we are hard to spot

You may think something is normal… but then realize it is not.

Gather inspiration from the nature that surrounds you

Then perhaps you too can morph into something exciting and new.

This isn’t the last you will see what we can do,

But for now, we must bid you a loving adieu.

With love and possibility,

The Nattermorphs of Griffith Park

We loved decorating the masks the fairies left and we loved even more creating characters for the masks.

We had interviews with some of these new “friends” but really, they all just wanted to eat the interviewer so it was quite silly!

Sleep tight my little Nattermorphs!
