Fairy Camp LA

A blog for Fairy Camp LA, focusing on crafts, music, dancing, nature, fairies, trolls, magic, and other enchanting activities for children.

Things were buzzing at Fairy Camp today!  We had such fun and learned about how important bees are to our fairies AND to the planet.  Dossledorf wrote:

Dear Friends,

I am squealing with delight!

Those little owls you made yesterday are FANTASTIC! Our wise old owl friends really enjoyed them AND the jokes you told at the Hanalonkawich had them hooting with laughter! They especially loved the one that went:

Knock, knock,

Who’s there?

Who Who?

Why are you hooting like an owl?

Ha ha ha ha! That one cracked them up!

You really are a truly funny and sweet group!

Our next friends that would love your help need not only the humor and sweetness you have BUT all of your smarts and intelligence… there is a serious problem that really needs your help!

Please go to the Hanalonkawich now!

Thank you! Love, Dossledorf

When we got to the village,

the kids were excited to get this beautiful surprise,

but sad to hear that the bees were in trouble:

Dear Children,

Thank you so much for coming so quickly to the Hanalonkawich. Today we really want to talk to you about a serious problem that is not only happening at Hanalonkawich but all over the world.

We are very good friends with bees. I know, I know, some of you might be surprised by that, but bees help flowers and crops grow by pollination. Bees and other animals such as birds and bats pollinate flowering plants by moving grains of pollen from one plant to another. Through pollination, plants can grow seeds and fruit.  But many bees are missing. Bees are leaving their hives and not coming back. There are many reasons for this, but a large one has to do with pesticides. Another reason is that their habitats are being destroyed.

Our fairy group was wondering if you would help us out and be a true friend to the bees. Would you help keep our forests and plants bountiful by giving the bees a safe place to live and pollinate? Could you create for them a place that has a glorious plant that has no pesticides? A flower they could pollinate? Bees love many different flowers… lavender is one of their favorites… and also alyssums.

If you do this, and bring it to your Glapidious then perhaps there are some bees that will be able to pollinate and help keep our environment super stellar!

We hope you will help!

With love, the fairies

Our campers did a wonderful job creating a bee-autiful place for the bees AND used plants that bees really like too!  We are proud of our campers for their compassion!

AND the flower pots turned out fantastically!
