6 hours after the children have left and I’m still grinning AND full from all of our fun activities.

What a wonderful first day – the kids were amazing and very stoked to be creating FROM SCRATCH!

After some fun and getting to know you games, we talked about what we see when we go grocery shopping.

We brought out some pasta I bought at the store and inspected the noodles.

We read the ingredients and talked about where it all comes from.  The kids were SO excited to know that we were going to make our own homemade pasta and use Melissa’s grandmother’s pasta maker to boot!  very cool.

We poured, cracked and mixed…

and then kneaded, cranked and watched in amazement as we made our very own pasta!!

We all know that pasta is so much better with sauce, so I took the kids to my herb garden where we sampled some of what was growing.  The kids loved the basil, and we picked our own leaves to make pesto FROM SCRATCH!

We added garlic, oil, lemon, and walnuts and kazam!  Homemade pesto!

After lunch the kids got to sample their homemade masterpieces – they were delicious and the kids really liked it!  We hope you did too!
